Introduction
Harar; The city of Saints in Arabic is a walleded cit located in Eastern part of Ethiopia. For centuries, Harar has been a major commercial center, linked by the trade routes with the rest of Ethiopia, the entire Horn of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and, through its ports, the outside world. Harar Jugol, the old walled city, was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2006 by UNESCO in recognition of its cultural heritage.
Harar has a stone homes, museums and items discarded from war. According to UNESCO, it is "considered 'the fourth holiest city' of Islam" with 82 mosques, three of which date from the 10th century, and 102 shrines.

Day 1: Addis Ababa - Dire Dawa Harar
Fly from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa on Ethiopian Airlines ET. Drive 50km from dire dawa to harar. Harar is a labyrinth of small streets surrounded by old city walls. Our tour of Harar will include some of these as well as some of the traditional old houses of Harar. The main sights are:- the city walls and gateways, the Friday Mosque, the Museum, the Ras Makonnen House, The 16th century house of a famous French Poet -Rimbaud.
Day 2: Harar
Visit the colorful Islamic market. Tour the National and Harari museums and the house of Ras Mekonnen (father of Haile Selassie.) In the evening see the "Hyena Man" feeding the hyenas that gather nightly outside the town.
Day 3: Harar - Dire Dawa - Addis Ababa
Drive from Harar to Dire Dawa with optional stop at Ethiopia’s largest “chat” market in Aweday. If time permits visit Diredawa From Dire Dawa, fly to Addis Ababa. Transfer to airport for late night departure if needed.
