Itinerary
Day 1: Durban

This package includes a free airport transfer - either arrival OR departure. If you have opted for an arrival transfer, you will be met on arrival at Durban King Shaka Airport and transferred to your hotel in Umhlanga Rocks. After settling in the rest of the day is yours at leisure to explore Umhlanga and its many highlights. Head to the beach promenade to explore or sit at a local cafe and enjoy the sound of the rumbling Indian Ocean over a delightful cocktail.

Day 2: Durban

After breakfast, we head to Durban city for the first half of the day exploring Durban City on a tour. Learn about Durbans origins from local tribes with Zulu warrior legends and the early colonial settlers to the contracted Indian labourers who arrived in the 18th Century to work on the endless sugar cane fields. We visit highlights such as the Golden Mile, Phansi Museum and the Botanical Gardens. The second half of the day we visit milestone sites, where South Africas first steps toward Democracy were taken. This includes the site where Nelson Mandela famously cast the first free and fair election vote in 1994. We then learn more about Mahatma Gandhi and his vision and time spent in Durban while visiting his homestead in the local settlement. Seeing the informal townships that skirt the suburbs we visit the oldest African private school for girls, Inanda Seminary. This Heritage Tour offers an insight into the individuals and communities of past icons and their contribution to empowering the people of South Africa.

Day 3: Durban

Tour arrangements end on the morning on Day 3 and if you have not already used your free transfer, you will be taken to the airport for your onward flight.
