Our 4-day Amalfi Coast Trekking will let you discover the beauties of the area, away from the crowd and traffic. We will hike along mountain paths and old mule tracks that connect all the villages and towns of the Amalfi Coast.
This is an itinerary designed for you to visit and get to know the Amalfi Coast on foot. Walk through paths used for centuries to transport goods and food from one village to another, to sell the products of the land in the markets.
We will go from a town in the mountains to a seaside village; we will visit Churches and Museums; we will know the history of these places that have seen the passage of European and Mediterranean civilizations; without forgetting one of the most important moments of every trip: food and wine!!
We will stay in different accommodation: hotel and B&B.
Possibility of being able to swim almost every day.
We will travel along the chain of the Lattari Mountains: starting from Cava de’ Tirreni, we will pass through the millenary Benedictine Abbey, up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Avvocata, overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
The Amalfi Coast Trekking tour will allow us to visit the seaside villages of Maiori, Minori and Atrani; the first Maritime Republic of Italy: Amalfi; the ancient Ravello and its marvelous Villas. We will walk on the spectacular Path of Gods, arriving in the “Vertical City” of Positano, a favorite destination of the jet set, both Italian and foreigner.
A certain physical level is required for these five days of walking; every day we will walk between 8 to 12 km, both uphill and downhill.

Day 1: Cava de'Tirreni - Avvocata Monastery - Maiori (10 KM)
Morning pick-up from your hotel or prearranged meeting point to the 11th-century Benedictine Abbey of Cava de’ Tirreni.
We begin with a guided tour of the Abbey visiting its cloister, catacombs and small museum. Afterwards, we start our trek towards the so called Old Chapel (max. 1,5 hrs), half way to Mount Avvocata.
Trekking Mount Avvocata is a classic route with stunning views over the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Every Monday, after the Christian holiday of Pentecost, the Monastery on Mount Avvocata is reached by thousands of pilgrims from Cava de’ Tirreni and Maiori to renew their devotion to the Virgin Mary.
It starts at 380 meters above sea level hiking through chestnut woods, oak forests, with olive groves, lemon trees, and pastures in the Mediterranean bush. The trail leads over a rocky ridge to the west from which you will arrive at the top of Mount Avvocata at 1014 meters above sea level, and reach the Sanctuary; take in the views, have your lunch and rest, before taking the downhill path that will take us in the center of Maiori, where the first day ends.
Meals Included: Boxed Lunch.
Day 2: Maiori - Minori - Ravello - Atrani - Amalfi (7,5 KM)
After breakfast, we begin our second day on the Lattari Mountains.
From Maiori we walk via the Lemons' Trail through the picturesque villages of Minori, Ravello, Atrani and Amalfi.
In Minori, we will stop at De Riso pastry shop for an excellent slice of lemon cake of the Amalfi Coast.
Then, through ancient stairs we will first reach Ravello, where we can take a coffee in the elegant Piazza Duomo, and after we will reach the beautiful Atrani, set in the rock; finally, through a comfortable and unique path between the roofs and the courtyards of the houses, we will arrive in the center of the queen of the coast, the magnificent Amalfi where you can visit the Duomo or simply stroll among the many shops of the ancient historical center.
Transfer back to Maiori, to our overnight accommodation.
Meals included: Breakfast, and Boxed Lunch.
Day 3: Amalfi - Mills Valley - Agerola (10 KM)
Check out after breakfast and take a transfer back to Amalfi, and walk up to reach the trail to the Mills’ Valley. You will climb the ancient stairs and paths, amid lemon trees full of springs and waterfalls amid high cliffs. Within the deep valley we will see several examples of industry from as early as the 10th century, such as the remains of an old aqueduct and ironworks. There are also ruins of several paper factories that remain one of the few links to the history of wealth and power of the medieval Republic of Amalfi.
On the Valley of the Mills there’s a subtropical microclimate, where you may find Cyclamen, Wild Orchids, Pterris vittata, Pinguicula hirtiflora (a carnivorous plant), Woodwardia Radicans, and Erica terminalis (a rare species of the giant fern which has its origins in the tertiary period). From there we get on another trail that will take us up to the town of Agerola, where we will spend the night. Overnight accommodation.
Meals included: Breakfast, and Boxed Lunch.
Day 4: Agerola - Path of the Gods - Positano (10 KM)
Today we enjoy a pleasant hike on the most famous trail on the Amalfi Coast: the Path of Gods (Italian: Sentiero degli Dei). Walking across the mountainside, at the foot of the Sant’Angelo a Tre Pizzi mountain, we will admire one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world.
It starts from the square in the hamlet of Bomerano in Agerola. On the first part offers outstanding views of Praiano, Positano, Li Galli islets, and Capri, and the Grotta Biscotto, an old shepherds shelter, built into the rock and inhabited since Prehistoric times.
Along the way we walk in the shade of elm and oak trees surrounded by myrtle and juniper; cross wild precipices full of caves and small vineyards. Here is where the ped’ e palomma grapes are harvested.
During the guided hike, we meet a local shepherd who will share with us a selection of locally sourced produce and a glass of red wine.
Less than 3 hours to reach the small village of Nocelle with Monte Pertuso in front of us, and we have 1,500 steps going down, arriving in the center of Positano. Once there, you may choose to wander its narrow streets, or enjoy an espresso and pastry at a local cafe.
The Trekking itinerary will end after we take a transfer to your overnight accommodation, in Salerno and/or Naples.
Meals included: Breakfast, and Lunch.
