Welcome to Rovaniemi and hundreds of kilometers of snowmobiling tracks! We are a pioneer of snowmobiling expeditions, which have been created based on Finnish snowmobilers going riding with their friends, keeping it as authentic as possible.
Our 2-day expedition is for people who want to experience snowmobiling in the backcountry of Rovaniemi, out from the regular tourist areas. It's the best choice for all, who want to have a longer snowmobiling riding experience and the duration of two days is perfect for a real taste of the Lappish thrill of the speed lifestyle. There are hundreds of kilometres of wilderness trails to choose and our knowledgeable guide will plan the best possible track based on the weather and snow conditions. Our new models of deep snow sport and crossover snowmobiles will guarantee excellent riding experiences at the different landscapes as well as being suitable for both beginners and advanced riders.
In the evening, you will enjoy accommodation in a remote cosy wilderness lodge or guesthouse with sauna, all meals included! All participants must have a valid driving license with them during the expedition (photo or photocopy is enough).
This tour has been the favorite of guests, who wish for a more professional snowmobile experience than those generally offered. With a duration of two days and accommodation guaranteed, this expedition is well suited for both: those who visit for a short snowmobiling adventure as well as those who want to fit this 2-day experience in their longer holiday schedule.
We offer two different types of expeditions - private ones, booked only for your party and general departures, where we gather several different bookings in small groups of maximum size of 7 persons (each person always single driving their own snowobile). If a private expedition is not an option for you, please search for our general departures on pre-arranged dates throughout January, February and March. Tour names are the same, with private tours additionally marked in brackets.
We wish to offer premium services and expeditions, for everybody who has travelled before and is looking for something different than sightseeing, but also for all, who wish to challenge themselves and feel like winners at the end of the expedition. Day 1 Getting a feel for your snowmobile (daily distance 100 - 120 km)
We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel, the airport or train station in Rovaniemi. Preparations start immediately as we take you to the start point of the expedition, our Wild Nordic safari center. You will be provided with professional thermal snowmobiling outfits (trousers, jacket, woolen socks, boots, scarf, commando hat/balaclava and gloves), driving equipment and a snowmobiling box for your personal supplies needed during the tour. The box will be attached to your snowmobile as the rest of your luggage will be kept in Rovaniemi in luggage storage.
Wild Nordic has the best riding gear for expeditions in Europe and we focus on safety heavily, providing detailed brefing of the track, weather conditions and driving instructions before departing to the wilderness.
While you get used to your snowobile, you will enjoy a full day snowmobiling in the Arctic Circle back country. The guide will choose the way according to participants skills and experience and lunch will be provided on the way.
In the afternoon, after riding from 100 to 120 kilometers, you will arrive to a cosy wilderness cabin located in the remote forest, where you can stretch the snowmobiling muscles in the sauna and enjoy a delicious home-style dinner (3 courses). Accommodation is always chosen to give the best opportunity to see the Northern lights and provide a good night sleep.
Day 2 Thrill of the speed (daily distance ~ 100 km)
After delicious breakfast, everyone is excited to put snowmobiling gear on and explore the fresh tracks as this day will be dedicated to a full day snowmobiling tour back to Rovaniemi through different tracks. Lunch will be provided on the way and there will be opportunities to stop for pictures to share to your loved ones.
Arrival back to Rovaniemi will be in the afternoon and you will be awarded with the Great Adventure certificate by the guide, making it official that you have competed an Arctic Expedition. After that. you can enjoy changing into your winter clothing and a transfer will be provided to your hotel or alternatively the airport/train station.
