Today we will collect you from Kosice airport and spend the morning in Kosice. The first registers of Kosice date from 1230 when it was known as Villa Cassa. Kosice is the biggest city of East Slovakia. In 2013 it was the European capital of culture together with Marseille, France. The city centre of Kosice is really well preserved. There visitors can see buildings in Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Art Nouveau styles. The biggest church of Slovakia is also located here, St. Elisabeth Cathedral. If you feel adventurous, you can climb the cathedral tower and enjoy a beautiful view of Kosice. In the city centre tourists can enjoy drinks and meals at bars, cafes, restaurants or go to boutiques and museums, among them Kosice Gold Treasure Museum. During medieval times, these buildings were merchants and aristocrats houses. In the centre of the square, locals and tourists can visit the Theatre, with presentations of ballet, opera and plays. Kosice is also the home of the oldest marathon in Europe and the second oldest in the world. After the city tour we will go to the oldest house in Košice, which is also the 5th oldest restaurant in the world and a popular destination of gourmets since 1542. Delicious food can be tasted together with local unfiltered and unpasteurised beer.

Day 2: Levoca and Spisská Nová Ves

Today we will travel to Levoca, a medieval town built between the 15th and 17th centuries. It is the biggest religious pilgrimage centre of Slovakia. In Levoca visitors can see a well preserved town wall, a Gothic church with the highest wooden altar in the world carved by the most famous medieval carving masters, master Pavol of Levoca, among other Renaissance buildings. In the city centre there is a special medieval object from the 16th century, the shame cage. It used to be a place of punishment for people who disobeyed the law. After visiting the city centre with its well preserved merchants medieval houses, we will travel to Marianska Hora mount, where visitors can appreciate a beautiful view of Levoca and see the Basilica of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built between 1906 and 1922. Pilgrims come here to see an ancient statue of the Virgin Mary. Pope John II celebrated masses on the field outside the basilica. From there we will travel to Spisská Nová Ves. The square of Spisská Nová Ves, it is one of the most beautiful in Slovakia and the longest of this kind in Europe. There tourists can see the Roman-Catholic parishchurch of the Virgin Mary's Ascension with the tallest tower in Slovakia, 87 meters tall dated from the late 19th century. In Spisská Nová Ves we will taste a stylish bohemium beer at Buchwald where you can also have delicious locally sourced delicacies.

Day 3: High Tatras

Today we will visit the most beautiful mountains of Slovakia, High Tatras. Our first stop is Štrbské pleso, a picturesque glacial lake and a top tourist destination in this region. It is the second largest glacial lake after Veľké Hincovo pleso. It can reach up to 20 metres depth. It is fed by underground springs and has no visible outflow stream. Its surface remains frozen for around 155 days per year. In the winter Štrbské Pleso offers excellent skiing conditions, attracting people who love alpine skiing, downhill skiing or cross-country skiing. After visiting this amazing place, we will go to Starý Smokovec. Its name means "Old Smokovec". It is a popular resort for skiing and hiking. It also forms the junction of the Tatra Electric Railway train line, connecting Poprad, Tatranská Lomnica and Štrbské Pleso. The Sanatorium and the Grand Hotel (established in 1904) are amongst the more important buildings in the area. For visitors who are interested in unique tourist attractions, they can visit Tricklandia in Starý Smokovec where they will have fun with its trickart. Trickart is the art that creates visual illusions, showing pictures that appear to exist, but are only two-dimensional drawings. In the afternoon we will take you to have a beer spa. Queen Maria Terezia confirmed to Poprad the old low of brewing beer in 1778. Where else should the beer SPA be, if not right in the brewery? Already in the Middle Ages Beer spas were favorite and efficient therapy. The natural ingredients used in the spa are: hops, extract from breweer draff & yeast.

Day 4: Poprad and returning back to Kosice

Today you will have the morning for yourself to enjoy Poprad. In Poprad visitors can find cafes, restarurants, a shopping centre and the beautiful medieval part of the city - Spisska Sobota, where you can see the typical merchant houses of that time with their unique roofs. In the afternoon we will pick you up at your accommodation and drop you off at Kosice Airport.
