Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and an excellent acclimatization climb before tackling Kilimanjaro or just an amazing 3-4 day hike in its own right. Generally considered an easier climb, it will still be challenging for most adventurers. The views are stunning. Mount Meru is a dormant stratovolcano in Arusha National Park, 70 Kilometers west of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Located to the east of Arusha town, about 85 kilometers drive from Moshi town. It is Tanzania’s second highest mountain at 4,566 m, with abundant wildlife from day 1 of the climb. The accommodation is dormitory-style huts. This is a great acclimatization climb before trekking Mt. Kilimanjaro.
