Spend your day at the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and at the Giraffe center. Have a chance to meet elephant calves, as part of the David Sheldrick Conservation Foundation. These babies have lost their mothers to poaching, death, injuries, on getting lost in the wild or other tragedies. Learn how Daphne and her dedicated staff raise the elephants and the process of releasing them back into the wild when they are ready. Next, visit Giraffe Manor where Daisy, a baby giraffe rescued by Jock and Betty Leslie-Melville from a heavily-poached area of western Kenya in 1974. Here you will have the opportunity to not only meet giraffes but feed them from your own hands

Itinerary
​Day 1: David Sheldrick

You will be picked from Nairobi city Hotel at 08:30hrs and taken to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Elephant Orphanage located in Nairobi National Park. The orphanage was founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick to save the lives of orphaned elephants and rhinos through the ‘Orphans’ Project’ who are ultimately released back into the wild. The orphanage is open for the public during feeding hours between 11:00hrs and 12:00hrs Proceed to the Giraffe Centre after watching the feeding, the center is located in Lang'ata, approximately 5 kilometers the center of Nairobi, Kenya. It was established in order to protect the endangered Rothschild giraffe, Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi, that is found only in the grasslands of East Africa. The Giraffe Center was started by Jock Leslie-Melville, the Kenyan grandson of a Scottish Earl, At the Giraffe Center you are able to site on top of a platform and stand eye to eye with the Giraffes. You are given small pellets to feed the Giraffes and there are unlimited refills. Across from the Giraffe Center is a small nature walk that features two other giraffes and a variety of unique plants and birds
