Highlights of South Kazakhstan (camping)

​Day 1: Issyk lake KAZAKHSTAN

Early breakfast at the hotel and departure to Issyk lake. You will visit unique burial mounds of Saka tribes, dated VI-IV centuries B.C. Issyk Historical and Cultural museum and reserve where you can see the famous Golden Man, the Saka prince and the symbol of sovereign Kazakhstan You will be transferred to Issyk Lake at the territory of National park. During the tour you will visit amazingly beautiful mountain lake Issyk, that used to be a popular resort during the Soviet time. The lake is located at the territory of Ile -Alatau National Park. The age of this lake is 8000 years. Lunch. Departure to Turgen gorge. Guided hiking to the Bear waterfall (1-1,5 hour). Bear waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Turgen gorge, and is 40 m height. Return and camping. Dinner. Overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Assy plateau KAZAKHSTAN

Breakfast and departure to Assy playeau. Assy plateau is one of the biggest and most popular dzhailau in Almaty area.Since ancient times it is been used as pasture. Scientists found remains of ancient humans, who lived here more than 5000 years ago. Assy plateau is truly one of the most picturesque places, where you may see fantastic beauty of landscapes. Day 3: Kairak Waterfall KAZAKHSTAN

Breakfast and departure to Kairak Waterfall. It’s one of the biggest in the region: its height is more than 55m (70 m in total) and never dries. Thanks to the location Kairak waterfall still remains clear and untouched by civilization. A way to waterfall takes 2,5-3 hours of walking. Along the way you will see a wild nature with pine trees and hear the sounds of waterfall.Lunch and hike back. Dinner. Overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Charyn canyon KAZAKHSTAN

Breakfast and departure to Charyn canyon. The canyon has been described as the Grand canyon’s little brother and is considered to be the floor of the ancient ocean Tethys. The erosion made by the river Charyn below and the elements created a dramatic and impressive landscape. The Charyn canyon itself is approximately 150 km and in some places up to 300 m deep.Lunch. Free time. Departure to Kolsay kolderi national park. Arrival to Saty village and check in. Dinner. Private sauna. Night stay at the guesthouse.

Day 5: Kolsay kolderi national park KAZAKHSTAN

Breakfast at the guesthouse and transfer to Kolsay lake1.Kolsay Lakes – one of the most beautiful places in Kazakhstan. These lakes are located at heights 2250 and 2700 meters above sea level. They are distinguished by the unique mountain watershed consisting of three natural zones and amazing variety of rare plants and animals. Hiking from Kolsay lake 1 to Kolsay lake 2 (8 km one way). Day 6: Kolsay kolderi national park KAZAKHSTAN 

Breakfast at the guesthouse and transfer to Kaindy lake (11 km off-road). Kayndy lake was formed in 1911 after a huge earthquake that resulted in a big landslide from the eastern slope. The rockslide “place of origin” can still be seen today, because it has not been overgrown yet. The uniqueness of the lake is that after the rise of natural dam that blocked the gorge, water that filled a basin has formed a lake but has not destroyed the spruce that had been growing in this place along the river. Lunch (outdoor picnic). Departure toTouyuk Su gorge. Evening arrival and camping. Dinner. Overnight at the camp.

Day 7: Touyuk Su gorge KAZAKHSTAN

Breakfast and hiking to Touyuk Su glacier. Touyuk Su is a valley glacier in the center of the group of the glacier, forming a horseshoe-shaped circus. Route crossing of Touyuk Su gate and tract Mynzhylki. Touyuk Su gate – huge rocks in the middle parts of the Small Almaty gorge at height of 2700 m. total time of hiking is 10 hours. Lunch and hike back. Evening arrival and camping. Dinner. Overnight at the camp.

Day 8: Altyn Emel national Park KAZAKHSTAN

Early breakfast and departure to Altyn Emel national park. Tamgaly on Ily river (165 km from Almaty). Tamgalytas – written cliffs, on the Ili river. Located 170 km from Almaty, natural boundary consists of huge cliffs. It was a place where beautiful images of Buddha and Burhans were found. Departure to Altyn emel national park. Check in and lunch at the guest house (Baschy village). Singing sand (also called whistling sand or barking sand). The dune is composed of light-colored sand and has a length of about 3 km and a height of 150 m. In dry weather sands emit a sound similar an organ melody. Since ancient times this place was considered supernatural. The legends explained the sound by the activities of the desert spirits, mythical animals, the bells of buried towns, and underground rivers etc. sunset at the singing dune. Day 9: Altyn Emel national Park KAZAKHSTAN 

Breakfast at the guesthouse. Check out of the guesthouse. Trip to Aktau and Katutau mountain range. Aktau mountains are located 80 km from the village that takes approximately 1,5 hours to reach them. The Aktau hills look supernatural. You will observe rock layers of white, red and orange colors across the range, known as a unique paleontological deposit with an estimated age of 25-30 million years. Katutau hills are less spectacular, but certainly interesting since it’s a good place to see argali. Ancient willow.Return to the guesthouse and lunch at Altyn emel sanctuary. Departure to Almaty. Arrival and transfer to the hotel
