Day 1 Welcome to Luxembourg
At 6:00 pm our ASI hiking guide will welcome us at the hotel. During an introduction round we will get the general information about the program, and afterwards we will have dinner together.
Day 2 Echternach- The oldest city in Luxembourg
West of Echternach, the waters of the Black Ernz River have washed deep gorges into the sandstone. During the hike we experience this bizarre rocky landscape. In the afternoon we discover the old abbey town of Echternach during a city walk. Echternach is the oldest town in the country as well as the historical and cultural center of the Mullerthal region. It has preserved its medieval ambience: winding streets, remains and towers of the old city wall as well as a market place with a gothic town house will take us back to times gone by.
Day 3 Vineyards and their specialities with views of the Moselle Valley
Today, our hike takes us from Ahn to Wormeldange, always along the shell limestone cliffs through the steep vineyards of the Palmberg, with wonderful views of the Moselle valley. The nature reserve is characterized by old boxwood and orchid meadows, as well as by the valley of the Don Verbach with its waterfalls and the gorge forest. In the “Riesling town” of Wormeldang, we visit the Pol Farber winery. The Art Deco winery is the production site of the prestigious Crémant Luxembourgeois Poll-Fabaire brand. The winery team welcomes us on the banks of the Moselle, where we can enjoy a wide range of Luxembourg wines and crémants on a discovery tour.
Day 4 Mills along the Mullerthal Trail
We hike in the Mullerthal region - Little Luxembourg Switzerland - on a part of the Mullerthal Trail. Since 2014, this scenic trail is one of the "Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe". On the way, bizarre rock formations, narrow gorges and natural forests await us. At Heringer Millen we visit one of the historic mills and enjoy a small picnic. A delicious dinner will bring our stay in Luxembourg to a pleasant end.
Day 5 Hiking around Bourscheid through gorges & forests
Narrow gorges, dark spruce forests, torn valleys and steep, crystal clear streams - this is how the surroundings of Bourscheid present themselves. Today's hike leads us through the landscape of the nature reserve "Bourenground". Finally, we will visit the castle of the same name. Impressively situated at 380 m, it is one of the most valuable historical buildings in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Day 6 City tour of Luxembourg and say goodbye
After breakfast, we drive to Luxembourg-City. Nestled in a fantastically beautiful landscape, the picturesque old town with its winding alleys, historic houses and idyllic squares is waiting to be explored on foot. The Bock Rock with its underground casemates, the fish market, St. Michael's Church and, of course, the Grand Ducal Palace are just some of the many attractions in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the capital of Luxembourg. At around 12:30 we say goodbye, then individual journey home.
