Day 1: Night before departure
We will gather all participants for an introductory presentation the night before departure. On the first day we will have the chance to observe large marine mammals while visiting a coral reef ecosystem. Then, we will go trekking in a mangrove, which is a vital part of the coastal habitat. We will also visit the world-famous Kayangan lake, which is not only Instagrammable but also a special brackish water ecosystem. At night, we will finish the day with an evening presentation and activities.
Day 2
On the second day, we will look at a wider variety of underwater habitats, namely seagrass and seaweed dominant ecosystems. We will also be doing a marine life identification exercise where you will practice differentiating different species of organisms by their morphological features. At night, we will be explore shoreline ecosystems on an island.
Day 3
On the last day of the expedition, we will be exploring at least one thriving coral reef, artificial reef and an overpressured ecosystem. There will be short discussions between the stops and during lunch. Finally, we will wrap up the event as we arrive at the Dipnay port and travel to El Nido on land
