Day 1: 4 in 1 Day Tour Elephants- Batu Caves - Silvered Leaf Monkeys - Fireflies
12 pm Complimentary pick up from your Kuala Lumpur hotel and depart to see the adorable Elephants. They are revered as cultural and religious icons. Due to deforestation and illegal wildlife trafficking, they have become an endangered species. Hence the set up of the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Sanctuary in 1989 for continuous conservation, protection, public awareness and education. The centre uses game darts to knock out rogue elephants. Orphaned elephants are also saved and later released into bigger and safer jungle reserves. Feeding of the elephants is allowed and photo shoots. Special arrangements with a Guide to feeding orphaned baby elephants in their enclosures. (subject to availability) Then proceed to the Iconic Batu Caves and climb 272 steps into the temple of the Hindu Deity honoured during the Hindu Festival of Thaipusam every year. Devotees give thanks for vows fulfilled. Ladies to be properly attired to enter the temple - knees and shoulders to be covered. Proceed to Kuala Selangor - a fishing village. A rural drive to Bukit Melawati with the abandoned fort, lighthouse, a poisoned well and 3 Royal Graves of Sultans. Meet the silvered leaf monkeys as they forage for food. They are an adorable primate and will clamber all over you if you have food in your hands. After a frolicking time with the monkeys, a fresh sumptuous seafood dinner at a riverside restaurant. Malaysia boasts of the largest Fireflies colony in the world. Catch a boat for an exhilarating ride through the nite to watch fireflies at their dazzling best. They come out at dusk to rest, feed and make love. Their synchronous light flash is produced by a complex biochemical reaction in their light organs situated on their bottoms
The flashing of lights is a mating ritual. A fascinating sight to behold and silence prevails throughout.
