Day 1 Delhi - Agra
Begin your day with a pick-up from your hotel and a transfer to the New Delhi Railway station to board a fast AC train to Agra. Enjoy light refreshments such as tea or coffee on board the train.
Upon arrival at the Agra railway station, meet your driver and proceed to begin your sightseeing tour of the Taj Mahal. This ivory-white marble mausoleum was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal, and it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. The Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is located on the banks of River Yamuna in Agra. Constructed entirely of white marble, the Taj Mahal is one of the most beautiful monuments in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tomb is laid out in a rectangular shape and can be approached through a massive gateway which has an arch and alcoves on either side of it. The entrance features water channels and fountains, making the monument even more spectacular.
After your visit to the Taj Mahal, enjoy a lunch break before proceeding to your next destination, the Agra Fort. This architectural masterpiece was built by Emperor Akbar in 1573 and is located on the right bank of the River Yamuna. The historical fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was once the erstwhile residence of the Mughals until 1638. It is a perfect example of Mughal art and architecture, built entirely out of red sandstone. Within the premises of Agra Fort lie the most exquisite structures, including the Pearl Mosque, Diwan-i Khas, Diwan-i Aam, Moti Masjid, and Jahangiri Mahal. Some parts of the Agra Fort are used by the Indian Army and are off-limits to public access. The view of the Yamuna River and Taj Mahal from the fort's pavilions is breathtaking.
After your sightseeing tour, you will have free time to explore the local market with your driver and guide. Later, you will be transferred to the railway station to board the train for Delhi. Upon arrival at the Delhi railway station, you will be transferred to your hotel.
