Day 2: Vilnius: Rome of the East

With a population of over 500,000 and one of the largest contiguous old towns in Europe, Vilnius has rightly been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start this morning with your tour guide for a city tour of Lithuania's capital. Discover the beautiful Old Town with its many churches, small alleys and historic buildings from the 16th to 18th centuries, as well as the old university (outdoor visit). You will be impressed by the "Gate of Dawn", which is considered one of the most important cultural and architectural monuments of the city, as well as the church of St. Anna with its 33 different types of bricks. The small amber museum will give you an overview of the history of the yellow gemstone. At noon you will dine together in a local restaurant. Arrange the afternoon for yourself. Stroll through the small streets or linger in a café. Optional visit to the National Museum "The Palace of the Grand Princes of Lithuania" (35 € p.p., min. 4 pers., please book with reservation). (B/M)

Day 3: Rundale Castle and Riga

First, you will visit the Church of St. Peter and Paul, an architectural masterpiece from the High Baroque period, before driving to Trakai. Here you will find the medieval moated castle (exterior visit), a kind of national shrine, which impresses with its picturesque location in the middle of a lake landscape. In the afternoon you will pass the border to Latvia. Be enchanted by the magnificent Baroque Rundale Castle, considered the largest and most beautiful castle in the Baltic States. In the evening you will reach Riga. 2 nights there. (F)

Day 4: Riga: vibrant city on the Daugava River

The capital of Latvia will inspire you! In 1997 Riga was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List because of its special Art Nouveau architecture. Gain interesting insights into the city's history during a guided city tour: the famous cathedral, St. Peter's Church with its 120-meter-high tower (outside visit), romantic craftsmen's alleys, the Small and Great Guild, the Blackhead House on City Hall Square and the old city wall. Afterwards, visit Riga's famous Central Market, which is also the largest market in Eastern Europe. In five market halls you will find a wide selection of Latvian specialties. Fresh vegetables and fruit, smoked fish, country bread, cheese and honey await you here. Would you like a taste? Afterwards you have time to discover the city individually. Enjoy a coffee, stroll through the stores or listen to the organ concert in Riga Cathedral (approx. 10 € p.p.). Alternatively, a boat trip on the Daugava River is recommended. Get to know the silhouette of the city from the water (bookable on site, the price depends on the number of participants, for 8 persons approx. 31 € p.p.). (F)

Day 5: Turaida Bishop's Castle in Gauja National Park

In the morning you will drive through the Art Nouveau district of Riga with beautifully decorated houses before reaching the Gauja National Park. This is characterized by forested hills, deeply incised glacial valleys, unparalleled biodiversity and unique natural monuments. Due to its steep slopes, the national park is also called "Latvian Switzerland". Here you will visit the famous Turaida Castle. This was once built as the residence of the bishop of Riga. From the tower of the ruined castle there are breathtaking views over the valley of the picturesque river Gauja. Afterwards you will visit the famous and legendary sandstone cave of Gutmann. It is located directly on the Gauja River and was formed by it and underground springs. In the evening you will reach the city of Tallinn, where you can end the day in a cozy restaurant. 2 nights in Tallinn. (F)

Day 6: Tallinn: Medieval Charm

You will spend the day in the capital of Estonia and discover the most important monuments of the Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site) under expert guidance. Impressive are the completely preserved city wall with its defense towers, the beautiful town hall square with the nice cafes and the old pharmacy. The Cathedral Hill fascinates with the view of the Old Town all the way to the Baltic Sea, but also with the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Toompea Castle, seat of today's Parliament, and the Cathedral. In the afternoon you have time to explore the beautiful city individually or book an optional excursion to the baroque castle Kadriorg and the art museum Kumu (bookable on site, the price depends on the number of participants, for 8 persons approx. 60 € p.p.). Have you had enough culture for this day? Then we recommend an excursion to the fascinating Lahemaa National Park with Palmse Manor. Enjoy the tranquility and unspoiled nature in the 725 square kilometer area on the rugged coast of Estonia (bookable on site, the price depends on the number of participants, for 8 people approx. 90 € p.p.).
