Itinerary
Day 1 Auckland to Waitomo Caves to Rotorua Deluxe experience, evening dinner and Maori experience

Leaving Auckland in the morning, journey through the lush farmland of the Waikato and King Country regions. Your first stop is in the small town of Waitomo, where you'll enjoy a guided tour through the world-famous Waitomo Caves including a silent boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto - a subterranean cavern lit up by the lights of thousands of tiny glowworms. Enjoy a delicious picnic-style lunch on your way to Rotorua.

Arrive at the Agrodome, an organic working farm where you can learn all about farming in New Zealand. Take a tour of the Agrodome farm in an all-terrain vehicle, see how sheep are shorn and watch a live sheepdog trial. From here onto Te Puia, one of New Zealand's foremost cultural venues. At Te Puia's marae, you will receive a traditional welcome and be invited to experience a Māori cultural performance, in which ancient and modern stories are told through song, dance, poi and stick games. You'll gain an understanding of this unique culture and its history and be thoroughly entertained by the talented and charismatic performers.

Take a guided tour of Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley active geysers and boiling mudpools where you can see the world-famous Pohutu geyser unleash vapour jets up to 30 metres high.

This journey concludes in Rotorua, where your coach will drop you to your accommodation.

Mitai Maori Village

An evening at Mitai will give you an awe-inspiring introduction to the indigenous Maori culture. Marvel at the beautiful bush setting and see warriors in traditional dress who paddle an ancient warrior canoe (waka) down the Wai-o-whiro stream while trout and eels swim beneath the surface. Enjoy a traditionally cooked hangi meal and round your evening off with a spectacular cultural performance that tells the story of the Maori people, their past, carvings, and ta Moko -Tattoo art. Be captivated by the displays of weaponry and combat and be amazed by the spine tingling Haka finale. Truly an experience to remember.

Day 2 Full day to explore Rotorua then return to Auckland

Explore Rotorua

Peppered with natural hot springs, boiling mud pools and steaming geysers, Rotorua sits within one of the worlds most active volcanic regions. Today you have free time to relax or explore Rotorua - a visit to the Polynesian Spa for an invigorating soak in its natural mineral hot springs should be high on your list; or perhaps you'd rather live on the edge when you hop aboard a helicopter bound for White Island, New Zealand’s most active volcano; alternatively, head up the Rotorua Gondola for soaring lake views, and ride the luge at night for an extra thrill.
