Although the pre Columbian inhabitants were not Inca, they spoke a similar language and trade a lot with the great empire. You can still see traces of the older cultures in the food, the music, the clothing and the faces of people. Very high and dry mountains only interrupted by some fertile valleys. Salta and Jujuy are a pleasant and welcoming surprise for the traveler. This short getaway gives you the perfect glimpse of this special region.

Itinerary
Day 1: Salta

Arrival in Salta. Transfer to accommodation. Check in

Day 2: Salta

Breakfast. In the morning, Cafayate full day excursion: We are leaving from Salta to the South, taking the route 68, passing through little towns like Cerrillos, La Merced, El Carril, Cnel. Moldes, La Viña (agricultural area specialized in is tobacco). We are visiting the village of Alemanía, and from there we are entering to Cafayate Gorge, where we´ll see in the mountains the erosion of millions of years, created by wind and water (Devil´s Throat, Amphitheater, The Monk, The Castles, Parrot´s House, The Windows and The Toad). After visiting these places, we are arriving to the town of Cafayate to visit a winery and to taste the specialty of the region, torrontés wine. After walking through the town, we are coming back to Salta through the same gorge, which will offer us a different landscape in our way back to the city

Day 3: Salta

Breakast. In the morning, Humahuaca Full Day Excursion: Towns and relics of ancient cultures, superb mountains and the feeling of being in timeless places are the exquisite elements of this trip through the Humahuaca Gorge. You will leave Salta at 7:00 am and head north to the province of Jujuy. The small towns of Tumbaya, Purmamarca, Maimará and Tilcara open their ancient charm to your captivated eyes. In Purmamarca, you will stop to see the famous Seven-color hill, in Tilcara, you visit the Pucará (fortress) and the Archeological Museum, while in Uquía you stop to admire the local church. But it’s in Humahuaca where you enjoy in the extremely peaceful atmosphere, the typical colonial architecture and the charming people. In your way back you will also visit San Salvador de Jujuy to get to know its monuments and intriguing legends. Let the history behind the walls and stones of these places take you on a ride to the Argentinean past! Arrival to Salta at 7 – 8 pm

Breakfast. Check out, transfer to airport and end of services
